TERMS AND CONDITIONS

(For Prizewinners and gift certificate recipients the payment terms/ obvious items re the issuing parties, are not applicable and are left for reference only.)

Insurance

Personal Chef UK Ltd Associates carry Public Liability Insurance

However it is highly recommended for functions involving costly arrangement, venues, travel and catering etc. that adequate insurance is taken out. Many firms will arrange this type of one off cover, even to cover the event of bad weather for an outside event. In the unlikely situation of you having to cancel a booking at the last minute at least you will have peace of mind. Personal Chef UK Ltd can arrange this for you at extra cost

Payments
(For individual Clients Not Applicable to Prize-Winners or Certificate recipients!
)

A deposit of 50% to cover food costs and travel etc. will usually be required at the time of confirmation of booking. This is refundable less 20% administration costs if full written and verbal telephone cancellation is received 28 days prior to the confirmed event.
Additional guests notified after agreement will be added to the final amount on an agreed per-head basis

(Not applicable to prize/gift certificate winners where the guest numbers are fixed)

Final Payment in full is required on or before the day of function. Unless previously arranged in writing or for regular clients that pay via BAC system etc.

Gift Vouchers and Prize Certificates

Gift Vouchers and Prize Certificates must be paid for in advance in order to receive an activation code. Once activated they are not redeemable by cash and not transferable, neither can they be used as barter. If specific dates are booked or indicated then no refund is possible. No refunds after activation code is issued.

Recipients of Gift Vouchers please ensure that you bring your redeemable gift voucher to the venue to present on arrival.
If full or part payment for your meal is by a Gift Voucher this will become void if you cancel a booking less than 4 full weeks prior to the arranged venue date. All other cancellation charges are shown under ‘Cancellations, except that a refund cannot be made against a Gift/Prize Voucher. However, we will be pleased to hold the balance of the value of the voucher for future use less any incurred costs (staff and food costs that are not recoverable) within the dates indicated on the voucher.

Cancellations

If the client cancels the event or reduces numbers* for catering within the below stated number of days the following charges will apply; (see also conditions above)

28 clear working days     – 20% of deposit charge
Less than 28 clear working days – 50% of total projected charge

Less than 7 clear working days    – 100% of total projected charge

*Additional or reduction of guests within the time limits will be charged on an agreed per-head basis.

For Cancellation of a particular chef where another cannot be produced in

sufficient time to take over, due to accident illness and or adverse weather conditions i.e. snow

or impassable roads we will Endeavour to come to an arrangement where the venue can be

repeated at another time. If there has been no event insurance taken out at the request of the client.

Any hire charges arranged by us at the client’s request that are not covered by insurance due to cancellation will be charged to the client at cost.
(It is recommended that insurance be taken out on hired goods unless already arranged by the hire company.)

If the client/winner cancels the event for any reason then full payment will be required from the party organizing the booking by PCUK Ltd

Christmas Day Bookings

In the unlikely event of such severe weather conditions making access to the client’s venue or from the chef’s abode (Motorway and road closures due to snow with no safe alternative) the arrangements will be transferred to the closest day following when access is suitable. This only applies when conditions are so far beyond the control of Personal Chef UK Ltd as to be impossible to rectify.

If the cancellation is made by the client without suitable reason and less than the time periods shown above, it is up to the individual chef’s to arrange alternatives. They are not obliged to do this at all but Personal Chef UK Ltd will endeavor to try and come to a suitable arrangement or alternative. Bearing in mind some items may have already been bought/prepared/cooked this is depending on the purchasing chef’s availability and the budget situation.

Further Instructions to Chefs by the client

Any further instructions/requests made by the client to the individual chefs that are not notified to Personal Chef UK Ltd and agreed to. are not the responsibility of the company should they fail to be carried out.

Each chef must be given a full breakdown of the venue and client requirements prior to the job.
Please notify any changes to Personal Chef UK Ltd and get a written confirmation before

The job is carried out.

Consumption of wines and any other food bought by the client at the function will negate certain aspects of the chef’s insurance.

Should any equipment or facility not be working that is out of the control of the chef it is the client’s responsibility and no compensation can be given. The chef will do their best to ensure the continuation of the event to the best of their ability but cannot be responsible for equipment failure (i.e cookers, power points etc)

Whilst working in your home it is your duty to provide a safe environment for the chef to work.

They will need to be shown an area outside the kitchen for hand washing etc. Please be sure the chef has access to water, tea and/or coffee during the food preparation time to avoid dehydration.

Any accidents in your home are covered by your household insurance. The chef will expect a reasonably clean and uncluttered area in which to work. Please supply a chair for the chef to sit when they take a short break. The chef should be offered tea or coffee facilities and a clean area to wash his/her hands. Please also insure a small area in the freezer and at least one fridge shelf so the chef can keep foods cool and safe during preparation.

The Personal Chef is on a par with a private employed chef while working in your home. He/She is not a caterer but should be treated as your own private staff for the day.
